They are made from 100% certified organic corn and milled slowly using traditional stone-ground techniques. Old-Fashioned Coarse Stone-Ground Grits Recipe
Ingredients:
• 4 cups water
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup uncooked stone-ground grits*
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepperDirections:
1. Bring water and salt to a boil in a heavy saucepan.2. Gradually whisk in the grits.
3. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes or until tender, stirring often and adding additional liquid as needed.
4. Remove from heat and stir in butter and pepper.
Yield: 4 servings
Cooking Tips
• If you want to speed up the cooking time, soak the grits overnight using the same 4:1 ratio of water to grits. When cooked the next morning, the grits will be done in about half the time.
• Add additional water or broth as needed during cooking to maintain the desired consistency.
